Geoquest and Freyssinet joined forces for the construction of Terminal 2 at Mactan–Cebu airport, the second–largest airport in the Philippines. Located 800 km south of Manila, the capital of the Philippines, in the city of Cebu, a growing tourist destination, Terminal 2 was inaugurated in July 2018. Launched in 2015, the project aimed to sustainably cope with the steadily increasing number of passengers, from 4.5 million currently to 12.5 million annually, and increase the number of international flights.

Dong Da boat station is located at Thi Nai lagoon, Quy Nhon city in the center of Vietnam. The Owner wanted to build a quay along this station. The initial option was a very traditional structure: sand pumping pipes. However, it did not help to maximize the area above and was not suitable for the area’s landscape.

In order to find a better solution, Scene Plus requested Reinforced Earth to propose an alternative. Using its experience, Reinforced Earth has proposed MSE Wall.

Started in 2019, the missions included the design work of MSE wall structures, the supply of the moulds, materials and service of technical assistance.

Freyssinet and Geoquest worked together to offer the Owner an alternative solution to build the quay running along Dong Da boat station. Reinforced Earth® technology was preferred to a very traditional structure in this area. Reinforced Earth® precast MSE walls proved to be not only a more cost–effective but also suitable for construction conditions where water level rises and falls during the day due to tides. It demonstrated excellent performance during the Matmo, a heavy storm hitting directly this region in 2019. After completion in 2020, this structure of 915 m² of MSE walls and reaching a maximum height of 6 meters is already a landscape highlight for this beautiful city.
